Today a dear friend came by.  A dear friend, who has a heart after God.  He has been forgiven much and he loves much.  And an ill wind blew.  You see, our friend desperately wants to 'do something' for God.  For the One who has done so much for him.  So he finds himself drawn to messages containing - at their core - some difficult hard to be understood truths.  Thus - his experience is not always that of the tall grass gently blown by the sweet sweet Spirit.


After seeing our friend off - I continued thinking about the Spirit.  The Spirit of the Living God.  Fall, afresh, on me...

Dear Jesus - Oh please keep us safe in Your care.  In Your gentle and tender care.  Keep our eyes on the truth of Your Word...

There has always been a counterfeit for the genuine.  It began in the perfect courts of Heaven and will remain until Jesus comes to take us home.  However - the safeguard for us is to become intimately acquainted with the genuine.

A search on the phrase 'the Spirit saith' finds that it occurs 7 times in the book of Revelation.  Check out those verses below to see what is revealed about the Spirit in them (old king):

Rev. 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev. 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Rev. 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Rev. 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Rev. 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Rev. 3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Rev. 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Wow.  I don't know about you, but I get the message:  the Spirit longs for me to hear Him.  Him - who is the Way the Truth and the Life.  I am of the body of Christ - therefore I am 'the churches'.  I must 'hear'.
