Beauty in the Word...

Dear Jesus - You who made each intricate snowflake astoundingly beautiful, approached the creation of Your Word with perfect creativity.  Open our eyes to see You...

Came across the verse below in the Song of Solomon a week or so ago and it triggered a memory of David...  Could it be that even in physical appearance David resembled Jesus?  Could there be ties between this verse and others?

Song of Solomon 5:10 (KJV)
My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.  (note: a few verses later, the description includes 'fairest among...')

These thoughts led me to the verse below describing David when Samuel had him sent for:

1 Samuel 16:12
And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

We know that David was a king, and that the people's adoration of him and the women ascribing 10,000 being slain by him stirred up the jealousy of Saul:

1 Samuel 18:7 (KJV)
And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

Finally - how beautiful!  Even a spiritual connection.  Jesus, a Nazarite by way of place of birth, can also be seen in the verse below!

Lamentations 4:7
Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

Thank You Jesus for the way You weave Your Word together, it IS altogether lovely!
