A Communion Brain Freeze

Our Communion

Beautiful communion service.  My 5 year old son and I were seated in our customary second or third row from the front.  Husband up front officiating with the Pastor.  In fact, husband was just about to pray over the bread which would be immediately followed by its row-by-row distribution.  Son stands directly in front of me and says with big eyes:

A friend celebrated his birthday recently by visiting Catalina.  Beautiful place.  He came back with this picture.  I could stare at it for hours…  It prompted me to pack up the family and head to the ocean for a couple of days.  Powerful picture.  Powerful ocean.  Staring at it calms me.  Puts me into perspective.

Dear Jesus - We present before You Your promise that if we seek for You, You will be found by us.  We plead that the beauty of Your gift to us will be real supernaturally to us in a way that changes us today.

1 Word Off - Curiousity Answered

For dinner last night I made red lentil stew. Dal. Soup. Really more of a dal than a stew with plenty of carrots, onions, garlic, turmeric, a touch of olive oil.  Good comfort food.  And I thought about Jacob and one word I didn't understand.  Word search on 'sod' is in order.

Today a co-worker and I struck up a conversation about his amazing eagle pictures.  Which got me thinking of this blog, eagles, the Bible and a talk I heard a few years ago.  The speaker was an Old Testament Hebrew professor and the Holy Spirit buried her words deep in my mind as she spoke with passion about the beauty of the creation moment.  Today I decided to check the text out for myself - join me?

What Exactly Does Jesus Do?

Sometime back I came upon this chunk of verses in Exodus.  And I continue to be struck by the pathos of the conversation between Moses and Jesus.  Try a couple of things here while doing a Literal Reading - which is just reading it as it is:

Dear Jesus - My first blog post ever and it is only fitting it is on Praise!  I praise You from Whom all blessings truly flow...

1 Chronicles 5:2 -..yet Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came a ruler, although the birthright was Joseph’s— (NKJV)

Judah prevailed over his brothers in relation to the leadership of the family.  Reuben was biologically the firstborn and certain rights were implied him due to his place as firstborn.  However, his sin with Bilhah the concubine resulted in the forfeiture of those rights.  This specific verse details that the leadership of the family devolved onto Judah which is interesting in that you may recall Judah was actually the 4th born son of Jacob.   But is there something for me in this verse?  Does this verse show me Jesus?
